Confidentiality & Privacy Policy
The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission. I take my clients' privacy very seriously, and would not even disclose to anyone that you are a client, let alone any information about you, without your explicit request and permission.
The only exceptions to this are:
- Suspected child abuse or dependant adult or elder abuse, for which I am required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
- If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
- If a client intends to harm himself or herself, and has a serious intention and plan to do so, I will make every effort to ensure their safety. In extreme situations, I may have to contact someone for a wellness check or even call an ambulance.
